Leaving Las Vegas for Navajo Land

We left Las Vegas this morning for Lake Powell - on the way we went from Nevada to Arizona to Utah, back to Arizona, cut Utah again and finally arrived at Page in Arizona - without getting lost.
The view is great, we had time to explore the upper Antelope Canyon which is on Navajo land - the tours were lead by Navajos - and the 87 year old grandmother of our guide still lives traditionally on top of the canyons, although there is a power plant just at the other side of the road.
In the late afternoon we had a good look at the lake, held our feet inside, and I'd really like to come back here some time, rent a houseboat, go hiking, kayaking and read a good book or two.

SOHO Shopping Center

OK there is none - but on weekend you get many things on the street. I'll take a little break of posting the next view days, but be sure, that I'll take tons of photos while I'm cruising around Arizona, Nevada, Utah, California - so there's a big bunch of pictures coming in a week or so (maybe I'll be able to login on the way).

Harvard Medical School

Did some experiments ot Havard Medical School - it's a pitty, that I couldn't see more of the city, with all it's trees reminded me a bit of Seattle. Uh well, the bus is cheap, maybe I'll go there again.

Jack's don't Stay on Island

and he knows why - the view from the ferry is nice, but the island is dead! When I was back I got a macchiato at Jack's in order to wake up again.
Just found out I'll got Boston tomorrow, so maybe I've to skip posting tomorrow, but I hope I'll shoot some new stuff. Don't want to bore you with NY all the time ;P

Today I took my camera to find art. On our trip yesterday we passed the building in the first picture, I've passed it already on several strolls and it was about time to capture it.
The funny thing is, when you are looking for something actively, you'll be surprised what treasures you gonna find. Everything I saw today was about art.
Facing the building was a gallery with a crowd inside, these two guys were talking in the front - I guess one of them is the artist and/or gallerist. Then I just went around the corner, and I saw this guy sitting on the floor, creating this artsy advertisement on the floor with black powder (I'm not familiar with this technique, but I guess he'll burn it to the sidewalk analog to what a laser printer is doing) and all the other people around him talking to him about galleries, upcoming shows and exchanging business cards. This is so f-word-ing-form great, I don't even know what to say! You can do street art business here - another example are these great murals, as I've already posted earlier -click- and people enjoy it. That DKNY mural has been on the wall for years and is important enough, that now as another company bought the space on the wall you can read in the newspapers about it and the handcraft of mural painting.
Then I saw this guy with his dog - the picture speaks for itself, around the other corner there was this truck, showing sculptures of the famous rockefeller lunch break in 1932.
The last image is not art related, although I really like the contrast of the black clothes and all this colorful cans - but it's good to remember, that here you find almost everything right next to each other, and you'll never know what's waiting for you around the next corner...

Armpituresque

So some friends and I went to New Jersey to take some nightshots of Manhattan. I'm pretty glad with my pictures and the performance of my new hunting gear. The battery is however low - and I need to get a new one. But as I brought both cameras I didn't miss a single shots.
None of these are manipulated - just played with the flash and zoom - I love the night!

New Hunting Gear

Sooooo... I bought some new hunting gear, a used body and a refurbished lense to safe some money. I got 90days warranty on each to give it back. Although I safed a lots of money I still spent a lot, so I'll do some serious testing and I hope for you to find a lot of game!
I read that this lense is a bit soft - it's really soft compared to my 28mm prime, but it may be the weak evening light with all these clouds. The teleshots without VR were just impossible, and the boat is already a bit blurred due to longer exposure...

The Parrot, The Lama & The Fridge

I'm sure this would make a funny story too - but my cotton brain wouldn't think consequently right now - I'm sure that's all caused by that crazy electrosmog. Nasty bastard wouldn't leave me alone, always hissing in my ear. That stuff can make you crazy, I swear. The weather is also still wonderfully wet, and I got some stuff to do all day long - so not too much motivation left to get out and take some grey in blueish grey pics...
But some of you may already know that I'm painting a wolf, I've already invested several hours and it's definitely worth it. So hopefully I'll be able to show you guys soon - maybe june. Enough talking, I'm leaving to smash some little wossname against the wall. Don't worry - I'm fine, just talking nonsense...

Nat. Hist. Museum

I went to a museum today, as the weather forecast was really bad for the next view days - but it was all sunny and warm. Anyways, huge museum - i spent like 3hours inside and skipped a whole floor. Afterwards I had japanese lunch. Good food - but the music selection was pretty weird. I was surprised to hear Peter Fox - that's a yay, I was shocked to hear to german schlager music and nothing could surprise me anymore when I listened to austrian schihuettenmusi...
